Today I received spam that I hadn’t thought about in quite some time. It was send  directly to my phone as a text message (SMS). At first glance, to many users, the specially crafted message would actually look to be from Best Buy. See the message below.

Because the URL wraps, the “bestbuy.com” sticks out pretty well. The real domain, “prize-winners.info” is obscured.

If it sounds too good to be true…

Opening the message, the entire URL is revealed:

The link is obscured to protect curious folks from what might be on the other end.

If you get one of these spam scams, just delete it. Responding or clicking on the link is sure to tell the sender that you’re a good target. Surely, that will open the flood gates on you.
