LinkedIn, Facebook Upset Users With Latest Updates Social Networking Security Online Privacy & Identity Theft SecurityNewsDaily
There’s some pretty hefty implications here. Even though this was reported months ago, a recent viral message has users up in arms (because they read it on FB). Some are finding out that their mobile contacts are showing up in their FB contacts…with their Cell Phone number. Even though there aren’t indications that mobile contacts are visible to anyone but the person that uploaded their cell contacts, imagine how your business contacts that don’t have FB accounts will react if they know you’ve published their data. In traditional FB fashion, they aren’t saying what their plans are for that data. Do you really think that if you delete Mr. Boss’s contact from your FB contact page, they it will also be removed from FB databases?

As for LinkedIn, users should know that they too are subject to changes in privacy. A few months ago, LI changed their privacy policy to allow the site to post users’ names and photos in third-party advertisements. Hopefully they won’t be using photos from Facebook 🙂
